Residential Design Process - The Advantage
Interior Planning and Design, Inc. gives you a basic outline of how an interior design project may progress from beginning to end. We also provide you with the list of services that you will need.
1) Preliminary Project Meeting
This free, no-obligation pre-project meeting lasts up to an hour, which gives you enough time to discuss your project with us. We can get a clear understanding of your wants and needs, evaluate if your project is feasible, and prepare a proposal for our services.
2) The Schematic Design Phase
We review your goals and pull together all your wants and needs to develop the vision for your project. Our team utilizes design presentations with drawings, samples, and sketches to keep you in the loop. We demonstrate initial concepts and plans for your review and approval.
3) The Contract Document Phase
After you approve the design for your project, you can count on us to expand on the design and prepare detailed drawings as needed. These will serve as the basis for contractors to bid on your project.
4) Permit Submission
Submitting a permit request is usually done by the contractor. However, there are instances when our client may want to get the permit process moving before a contractor has been selected. We will fill out all the necessary paperwork and submit the permit application and our construction documents for you.
5) Project Coordination Services
Interior Planning and Design, Inc. is not a contractor and does not perform the duties of one. We leave that to professionals so that we can focus on creating the design of your project.
6) Hourly Consultation
Our staff is available for on-site and remote consultations hourly and as needed. We give you access to on-demand expert advice as well as comprehensive design solutions.
7) The Design Development Phase
Once the initial concept has been determined, we research the necessary components of the design to determine the most efficient means and methods of implementation. Our designs are presented in various forms, including 2D plans and elevations as well as 3D drawings. As such, we can convey our design ideas to you. We also help you keep an eye on your budget by giving you estimated costs.
8) Bidding Services
We assist you in every step of the bidding process, including sending out invitations and answering questions as well as collecting and reviewing the contractor bids. After, we will meet with you to provide you with the information you need to make a smart decision about your project.
9) Project Administration
We are available to answer questions from you and your contractors throughout the entire construction of your project. Our team can also process the required paperwork on your behalf.
